California SB 1215 Recycling Fee

Beginning January 1, 2026, physical and online retailers selling certain Wahoo products in California are required to collect a Covered Battery-Embedded Product (CBE) Recycling Fee at the point of sale. This obligation is established under California Senate Bill 1215, which expands the Electronic Waste Recycling Act.

Why the Fee Exists

Battery-embedded products must be handled through specialized recycling systems to prevent environmental harm. This program supports the safe recovery of materials and California’s broader sustainability and waste-reduction efforts.

Covered Wahoo Products Included

The following Wahoo products/devices are subject to the waste recycling fee under SB 1215:

  • ELEMNT Bike Computers
  • ELEMNT Rival
  • TRACKR Heart Rate Monitor
  • TRACKR RADAR
  • TICKR Fit
  • SPEEDPLAY Power (Single and Dual)
